BEST THINGS TO DO IN LIMA

  • There are many things to see and do while you are in Lima. Consider visiting Plaza de Armas, (main square) a historic center that has been home to Palace of Government, City Hall and its magnificent 16th century cathedral. 


  • If you like visiting old historical churches, Santo Domingo Church and Monastery is home to the burial sites of both Santa Rosa de Lima, the first saint ever in America and San Martin de Porras, the first black saint in history; Jesuit built 17th century San Pedro Church, Church of  San Francisco with it underground burial sites or catacombs, and La Merced church.



  • There are also a good number of museums in Lima. The Museo Larco, considered the Mochica Culture temple, holds a 45,000 piece collection including two erotic ceramic rooms and a pre-columbian gold permanent exhibition, it also allows visitors to go into its storage area, which is very rare for a museum to do so. Museo Larco is conviniently open daily from 9am to 10pm. Nights at the Museo Larco are a fantastic experience, and has a lovely restaurant too open for dinner.




  • The Gold of Peru Museum houses a stunning collection of pre-Columbian gold artifacts and has toured the world since the fifties and also houses a magnificent collection of arms and rifles.To learn history of the country of Peru, visit the Museo de La Nación.



  • There are also a number of Peruvian art museums and galleries that offer different showcases and pieces throughout the year. You should check the local listings when you get down there to see what is around, but they are generally well-stocked with fantastic pieces of art.
  •  Lima is the Gourmet capital of Latin America and world known for its fantastic foods and restaurants, paradise to gourmants. Peruvian creole food is world reknown for its fantastic flavours and variety. While there, you will find the most amazing fish and seafood resaturants as well as restaurants from all over the world, however, it is important to know that according to China, Peru is also the 8th culinary region, so try its superb Chinese food.
